Who We Serve
Chelsea School serves students with language-based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and other impairments that would be given a diagnosis of “Specific Learning Disability.” Chelsea also considers applicants with a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD if these students have documentation of impacted academic performance. Our program is not designed to serve students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a severe communication disorder, an emotional disability, or with significant behavior concerns. All applicants must have a professional diagnosis to qualify for an admissions review. Chelsea is one of the few schools to offer rolling admissions, remaining available to new students at any point of the school year.
The Application Process
It may take up to three weeks for applications to be reviewed and presented to the admissions team. Please refer to the admissions checklist for a complete list of required documents to submit with your application. If your child is determined to be a good fit for Chelsea School programming, you will be contacted to schedule a two-day visit. Here, your child will shadow a current Chelsea student and have the opportunity to interact with teachers, students, and experience Chelsea culture first hand. The admissions team collects feedback from teachers and makes a final determination of acceptance, typically within two weeks of this visit.
If accepted into the program, you will be contacted with next steps, additional paperwork, and instructions on how to finalize transportation (for publicly funded students).
**The two-day visit is only for students who are actively in the admissions process. Private tours for families can be arranged through the Director of Admissions.***

Financial Aid
Our financial aid is determined through the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) program. Please note: though we try to accommodate the financial needs of our families, there is no full scholarship currently available at Chelsea School.
If you plan to apply to Chelsea School for the 2024-2025 school year and need financial aid—either as a currently enrolled student or first time applicant—it is highly recommended that you complete the FAST process immediately at the start of 2024. The application will be accessible on January 1, 2024. Please note that financial aid is based on financial need and is provided on a first come – first served basis. There is limited funding available and current recipients of financial aid receive priority. Decisions on financial aid will not be made until after the 2022 tax deadline. Please have tax information entered into FAST by April 15th. Financial aid will be awarded in May of 2024.
For more details on financial aid please contact Jeff Green, Director of Finance, at 240-467-2100 or by emailing questions to jgreen@chelseaschool.edu .
