Chelsea School has returned to in-person instruction on our campus, and normal admissions processes have resumed. Open Houses have resumed, as well as in-person student visits, but all visitors must adhere to the school’s COVID-19 protocols.
Although we have reopened our doors, we are now more flexible in providing virtual tours, meetings, and introductions. Our Director of Admissions is available for scheduled phone inquiries and through Zoom, a secure video conference portal. Please use this link to request and schedule a conversation.
What to Expect
Chelsea School serves students with language-based learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and other impairments that would be given a diagnosis of “Specific Learning Disability.” Chelsea also considers applicants with a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD if these students have documentation of impacted academic performance. All applicants must have a professional diagnosis to qualify for an admissions review. Chelsea is one of the few schools to offer rolling admissions, remaining available to new students at any point of the school year.
The Application Process
It may take up to three weeks for applications to be reviewed and presented to the admissions team. Please refer to the admissions checklist for a complete list of required documents to submit with your application. If your child is determined to be a good fit for Chelsea School programming, you will be contacted to schedule a two-day visit. Here, your child will shadow a current Chelsea student and have the opportunity to interact with teachers, students, and experience Chelsea culture first hand. The admissions team collects feedback from teachers and makes a final determination of acceptance, typically within two weeks of this visit.
If accepted into the program, you will be contacted with next steps, additional paperwork, and instructions on how to finalize transportation (for publicly funded students).

Financial Aid
Our financial aid is determined through the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) program. Please note: though we try to accommodate the financial needs of our families, there is no full scholarship currently available at Chelsea School.
If you plan to apply to Chelsea School for the 2022-2023 school year and need financial aid—either as a currently enrolled student or first time applicant—it is highly recommended that you complete the FAST process immediately at the start of 2022. The application will be accessible on January 1, 2022. Please note that financial aid is based on financial need and is provided on a first come – first served basis. There is limited funding available and current recipients of financial aid receive priority. Decisions on financial aid will not be made until after the 2022 tax deadline. Please have tax information entered into FAST by April 15th. Financial aid will be awarded in May of 2022.
For more details on financial aid please contact Chloe Kadan, Director of Admissions, at 240-467-2100 ext. 303, or by clicking the contact link below.
