Director of Admissions

Chelsea School is seeking a highly-motivated and organized individual to become our new Director of Admissions. The Director of Admissions oversees all aspects of the recruitment, vetting, and enrollment process for publicly and privately-funded students. This requires an understanding of special education assessment, diagnosis, and law, as well as an understanding of the type of students who can be successful at our school. This position requires organization, attention to detail and follow-through, as well as outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To establish and increase the visibility in the outside community
and seek opportunities for the recruitment of new students to the school.

Minimum education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree
At least 3 years experience in school admissions preferred
Knowledge or background in special education (specifically dyslexia, ADHD, and learning disabilities)
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to learn quickly on the job
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work with a team in a collaborative environment
Security clearance (background check)


Oversee the program of admissions of new students to the school.
Present the school to prospective students and parents, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents
Interview potential candidates and their parents
Oversee arrangements for admissions testing, securing of necessary student credentials and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.
Oversee the Admissions office including the creation and administering of the admissions budget, and appropriate admissions and marketing materials, mailings and publications.
Evaluate the admissions process continually and redesign where appropriate all aspects of admissions with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students.
Coordinate with Director of Finance the management of re-enrollment of current private-pay students for the succeeding year

Maintain and disseminate relevant statistics on all aspects of the admission and re-enrollment program.
Participate in the external networking of the School by organizing and/or attending various gatherings and conferences (Educational Fairs, Open Houses, School Fairs, etc.)
Undertake special projects as requested.
