Careers Teacher

Chelsea School is seeking a full time Careers Teacher for the 2022-23 school year. The primary duties will include teaching 11th and 12th grade Careers classes, as well as middle school Careers classes. In addition to this, the Careers Teacher will oversee transition activities at the school including: IEP implementation, the college application process, SAT and ACT preparation, college scholarship processes, linkage with state agencies, career and college readiness, etc. Chelsea School specializes in educating college-bound students with learning disabilities. Preference is given to candidates with prior special education experience.
Ideal Candidates will meet the following criteria:
Valid Maryland state education licensure or equivalent out-of-state licensure in Special Education (or willingness to earn licensure within state-mandated time frames)
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Experience working with students with learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, and other disorders.
Familiarity with a variety of multi-sensory, systematic, structured instructional programs and practices.
Experience assessing student progress toward achievement of benchmarks, goals and objectives.
Ability to prepare students for SAT and ACT testing
Competence in writing IEP goals and objectives in the area of transition
Excellent oral and written communication and organization skills
Familiarity working with student records including: neuropsychological reports, academic testing, IEPs, etc.
