The purpose of the Chelsea School transition program is to meet the transition goals specified under each student’s IEP and to prepare our students for life after high school. Students take Careers in their Junior and Senior years to help them prepare for college and the workplace. The area of focus for students in Careers class is independent living, independent employment, post-secondary education, and vocational training.
Chelsea School students are encouraged to explore options for work and education. In Careers class they take part in a vocational assessment, job shadowing, an interest survey, PSAT preparation, and SAT preparation. They are also given instruction and assistance with applying to colleges and writing college entrance essays.
