Professional Development
Chelsea School has historically recruited a superior faculty; however, to ensure the ongoing success and stability of the staff, Chelsea School must commit itself financially to supporting incentive programs through continuing education and competitive quality of life/benefits packages which will entice passionate educators to remain part of our community.

Professional Development Fund

The goal of $3 million will establish an endowment for the following initiatives:
• Master's Degree in special education for each teacher
• Market based salaries
• Pay for performance incentives
• Subsidized housing
• Increased benefits package to include: health insurance, financial planning, and childcare.

Student Scholarships
When financial obstacles are eliminated, a superior education becomes available to students who risk falling through the cracks of the education system. These obstacles; however, can be extremely difficult for families to overcome, especially families with limited economic resources. Our goal of impacting students as early as possible in their learning experience can be achieved only with a plan to provide tuition assistance.

Student Scholarship Fund

The goal of $2 million will establish an endowment for annual scholarships representing partial or total deferral of student tuition. The following objectives will be met by:

  • Targeting new students in need of scholarships in the Washington DC metro area.
  • Off set the cost of privately funded students to bring the ratio to 1:5 with our publicly funded students.
  • Provide an opportunity for donors to meet with students and families that receive scholarship support.

Technology
At Chelsea School we believe that along with embedded literacy skills throughout the curriculum, specialized and advanced technological literacy must be fostered in our students. There are currently three areas of critical need in technology at Chelsea School: assistive technology, computer hardware and software, and developing career pathways in advanced technology. We would like to extend these program offerings to include computer programming, software design, biotechnical studies, and forensics. To accomplish this goal, Chelsea School must secure significant funding to support the facilities, training, and materials that are required.

Technology Fund

The goal of $3 million will establish an endowment for annual upgrades as well as acquisitions of new learning technology. In addition the following will be acquired:
     • Training and instruction
     • Classroom infrastructure for new career pathways
     • Purchasing new hardware and software

Future Facilities & Grounds
Chelsea School is rapidly growing in size, population, and in the scope of its vision. To meet the needs of this rapid development and to ensure academic success, Chelsea School is committed to the construction of a new, state-of-the-art facility envisioned by the architect Daniel Libeskind, and designed by his protégé Rob Claiborne.

New School Facility and Grounds FundNew Design for Chelsea School

The goal of $12 million will be achieved through three primary channels of
giving:
• Facility naming
• Grounds naming
• Interior space naming

The funds will satisfy the construction of a new facility, renovation of critical sections of the existing facility and establish an exterior environment for individual and communal play and study. The design phase was completed in 2008 with the representation of the projected new school modeled and illustrated for review.
