County Requirements for Graduation
Anne Arundel County Public Schools
Currently, Anne Arundel County Public Schools requires that all students who entered 9th grade during the 2005/2006 school year to earn a minimum of 26 credits in specific content areas in order to be awarded. However, all Anne Arundel County Public School students placed in a Type I nonpublic school (Chelsea School) must meet the alternative pathway to graduation as approved by the Maryland State Department of Education. This alternative plan of 22 credits is consistent with MSDE diploma requirements, aligns with state standards, and enhances successful transition options.

Approved plan consists of the following
English 4 credits
Mathematics 4 credits
- Algebra 1 credit
- Geometry 1 credit
- Electives 2 credits
Social Studies 3 credits
- U.S. Government 1 credit
- U.S. History 1 credit
- World History 1 credit
Science 3 credits
- Including Laboratory experience
- Biology at least one class 1 credit
- Other science areas 2 credits
Physical Education .5 credit
Health .5 credit
Technology (basic) 1 credit
Electives 5 credits
Fine Arts 1 credit
High School Assessments (or if determined to be appropriate, the modified HSA) student must meet passing scores or composite. The bridge plan may be employed to meet requirement if appropriate.
Completion of 75 hours of community service
Montgomery County Public Schools
Montgomery County Public Schools follows the Maryland State Department of Education outline for meeting graduation requirements.

Mathematics 4 credits
- Algebra/Data Analysis 1 credit
- Geometry 1 credit
- Additional mathematics elective 2 credits
Students who successfully complete a calculus course may be exempted from this 4 course requirement.
Social Studies 3 credits
- U.S. Government (local, State, National Government) 1 credit
- U.S. History 1 credit
- World History 1 credit
Science 3 credits
- Biology at least one class 1 credit
- Physical Science 1 credit
Physical Education 1 credit
Health .5 credit
Technology 1 credit
Fine Arts 1 credit
Electives:
Option 1: 2 credits in Spanish and 2.5 credits in elective courses
Option 2: 2 credits in advanced technology education and 2.5 credits in elective
Courses.

Prince Georges County Public Schools
Although much of the Chelsea School curriculum is closely aligned with Prince Georges County Public Schools, some PGCPS courses are not offered at this time.
