At Chelsea School, the chance to educate and mentor students doesn’t end with the day’s final bell. Clubs and other after-school activities are a major contributor to the overall quality of the Chelsea School culture. Clubs are led by faculty advisors and usually meet once a week. Every year new clubs are added to reflect the varied interests of our student body.

Latin Club
The Chelsea School Latin Club offers students an introduction to the language, culture, and history of the Ancient Romans. Students explore the language and learn how Latin roots function in English today. If students are looking to build their vocabulary, learn about history, learn a new (dead) language, or just have some fun, Latin Club is a great choice!

Spanish Club
The Chelsea Spanish club is an after-school club that focuses on the Spanish language and the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. From food to festivals, students get an interactive feel for the language and culture.

Chess Club
Chess – A Millennia-old game that still ranks among the best known and most popular games worldwide.  Chess is a great way to have fun and build friendships while developing mental skills that are useful in school.  The Chelsea School Chess Club is open to everyone from complete beginner to regular tournament player.  The club offers regular lessons for all levels.  If all you desire is a friendly game without a chess lesson that’s also available.  In addition to regular meetings and frequent games during and outside of the meetings, the Chess Club will also take advantage of the many opportunities around Washington, DC.  These include the many tournaments for both competitors and observers.

Literary Magazine
“My Turn: Unscripted” is a literary magazine produced by Chelsea School students bi-annually. Poems, short stories, essays, and original artwork comprise the literary magazine. Working with the English department, a team of student editors helps to select, edit, and design each publication.

Photography Club
In Photography Club, students are given an opportunity to develop composition and lighting skills for creative, expressive, and documentary photography.

Chelsea Band
The Chelsea Band is an after school music group intended to give our students an outlet for their musical interests. The songs we play reflect the student's diverse interests in various styles including rock, hip-hop, alternative, pop, go-go, metal, punk, etc. Our talented students play instruments such as guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, piano, and various percussion instruments. Aside from just having fun, the Band's goal is to perform for school events including, but not limited to the Senior Prom. The Band also delves into digital recording.
